About this project
We were asked to work with the authenticity of the building and to translate this gracefully into an appropriate lighting plan.
Our solution
We have preserved the spirit of the old building by providing sober lighting that blends in perfectly with the classy interior. The concept of this project refers to the principles of Italian cuisine, where one prepares a good dish with just a few elements. The owners find it important that they can show their customers a nice and readable plate of food. This is spatially translated into the interior and the way in which they want to distinguish themselves from the rest.
You can look inside the kitchen from the street, but they also work behind glass in the restaurant so that everything happens within view of the customer. That way it was important that the kitchen and dining room were connected to each other, when we talk about lighting.
Light accents
The Lampe Gras from DCW Editions is used, in both the wall and the pendants model, in the interior of the restaurant. This design shows an industrial look thus supports the mindsets of the owners. In addition, they have provided some light accents in the basement by hanging Tom Dixon wall-mounted light fixtures. This floor is intended for private dining, which makes an even cozier atmosphere crucial. In the kitchen, surface-mounted LED is provided as working light. The color temperature of the lighting is adjusted so that the worktop shows a realistic color. This is an important matter when preparing and serving food.
