Flos Wirering Wall Light
The Wirering is an exercise in reduction. The lamp was stripped-back to its essence: the electric cable and the light source. The minimal Wirering fits beautifully on the wall in your living room or bedroom and provides a warm indirect light.
Formafantasma is an Italian desingers duo based in Amsterdam. After they graduated from the Design Academy Eindhoven, Andrea Trimarchi and Simone Farresin founded Studio Formafantasma. Their oeuvre contains a coherent body of work, characterised by experimental material investigations, explored issues such as the relationship between tradition and local culture and critical approaches to sustainability.
Formafantasma designed the Wirering for Flos in 2018. The Wirering is composed of two seperate elements: a custom made belt-like electric cable and a ring that contains a LED strip. The cable, which is often hidden by other designers, is the focus of the Wirering wall light. It is the cable that transmits energy to the ring, so that the lamp can shine its light.
